Frequently Asked Questions
Do email aliases count against my seat limit?
No. Only distinct user accounts (mailboxes that authenticate) count as seats. If a single user account has 30 different email aliases or sending addresses, it only counts as one (1) seat.
What is the 4-year Change Date?
Under the BSL 1.1 license, every release automatically converts into 100% pure Open Source under Apache 2.0 exactly 4 years after its publication date. This ensures the code can never be held hostage or locked away.
How do I apply my commercial license key?
Once purchased, your cryptographic license key is provided in the Client Portal. You simply set ROOKERY_LICENSE_KEY in your compose.yml.
Can I migrate from Roundcube or SOGo?
Yes! Rookery connects to standard IMAP/SMTP and CalDAV/CardDAV servers (like Mailcow or Dovecot). Your existing mailbox contents and calendars remain on the mail server intact.
